My Design Approach


I am a passionate interior architect and designer with a deep understanding of my craft and a commitment to creating timeless spaces that are as beautiful as they are functional. Originally from South Africa, I hold a degree in Interior Architecture and Design from Teesside University. My work is enriched by my roots, extensive travels, and my life in Ireland since 2007. Based in Cork and working across the Munster region, I have been transforming interiors for over a decade.

My expertise lies in meticulous attention to detail, ensuring seamless flow and layout, selecting high-quality materials, and using carefully considered colour choices to create harmonious and welcoming spaces. My work isn’t just about aesthetics – I place equal importance on functionality and sustainability, advocating for quality furnishings and the beauty of antiques and vintage finds to create designs with character and longevity.

My comprehensive design approach guides clients through every step of the process, from the initial concept to the final design. I ensure that each design reflects my clients’ vision while meeting the practical demands of daily life.

My Process

Initial Consult

For a Renovation or New Build Consultation

Initially, I arrange a meeting to discuss your project in detail, including your brief, budget, and timeframe. Following this, I will prepare a bespoke project proposal for you, outlining my fixed fee, the scope of the project, and the anticipated timeline.

The process begins with a collaborative review of your floor plan, working closely with you and your architect or builder to suggest modifications. My recommendations will be based on both my professional expertise in interior design and your vision for the final outcome.

Practically, this often involves identifying opportunities for integrated storage, evaluating window designs to suit chosen window treatments, and ensuring that each room’s dimensions, flow, and layout support the desired aesthetic, including the specific cabinetry, appliances, and furniture planned for each space.

For an interior Design Consultation

After meeting with you for our initial consultation, seeing your space, and asking you my design brief questions, I start by carefully assessing your floorplan to learn what furniture configurations will suit your space best and work within your desired look, budget, and lifestyle.

Design Conception, Specification and Sourcing of Goods

I then proceed to meticulously design and specify every aspect of your interior.

This involves deciding the layout, style, brand, and colour of the entire space.

For renovations and new builds, this includes covering every detail that your builder will need to progress with the construction. With this comprehensive framework in place, I set about crafting, designing, and sourcing the ideal look for each room.

This phase can vary in duration, typically ranging from two weeks to two months, depending on the project’s scale and complexity. It is important not to rush this critical phase of the process.

Design Presentation and Feedback

Following the design phase, I present to you my proposed design and the specific items I recommend for purchase, seeking your feedback.

I provide detailed explanations for each choice, helping you understand how they complement your space. If my initial suggestions don’t quite resonate with you, I am prepared to source up to three alternative options at no extra cost. However, most clients tend to fall in love with and agree with the first option presented.

Procurement and Installation

Once you approve the design and the selected items, I will invoice the goods for purchase and arrange their delivery. I ensure that each item is correctly positioned, followed by the styling of finishing touches such as cushions, throws, and decorative items.

Should there be any issues with the orders or if returns are necessary, I will manage these processes for you to ensure that everything in your space looks and functions flawlessly.

For Renovations and New Builds: Once construction has commenced, I make regular site visits and maintain ongoing communication with your builder and/or project manager to ensure that everything is progressing well and according to specifications.
